Protect Yourself With Hardware-Backed Keys
In the current climate, computer security is de facto an expensive theatrical performance. TD Love would like to enlighten you regarding the proper steps to take to secure your accounts.
1. Choose services with Yubikeys only 2FA (two-factor authentication) sign-in method: make Yubikeys (or other hardware-backed keys) an obligatory step.
2. Avoid using Authenticator applications. Adding an authenticator 2FA usually requires scanning the QR-code secret on the screen and saving the secret in your phone's authenticator app. It's highly insecure. QR-code secrets can be grabbed immediately by Watchers who happen to be streaming your devices at that moment (you don't know who they are but they can freely browse your devices and stream your workflow live, including taking screenshots of your QR-code authenticator secrets).
Watchers can stream normal people's devices completely without their awareness. This streaming, watching, listening part -- right now, you have no control over whatsoever. It's extremely creepy because they can watch behind your back and even set to murder you because they have every routine of yours, every call, every appointment, every second of your GPS data -- completely transparent to them. Be very careful because they can watch however they want, every hour of every day, but their identities will not be disclosed.
It means that what you do on your computer and phone is actually a "public watchable event." You should consider it as public because there are hundreds of thousands of Watchers from the Entertainment Sector who can click on your devices and follow you remotely every single day for whatever reasons.
Maybe you've become their target of interest because your path crossed theirs at some point in your life. Maybe they want to check you out because of business or personal relations, to see whether you have an angle which they should know about, in order to position themselves better. Maybe you are smart, so they watch you work, learn from you, and try to copy things that benefit themselves. Maybe you are hot, so they follow you because they are obsessed, wanting to see your private photo albums and listen to you having sex with your boyfriend.
That sex part is 100% streamable live. You don't need to give them any consent. They feel they have the right to listen unlimited. If you use your phone as a night stand, then they can watch you have sex, instead of just listening. Don't use your phone or tablet as night stand. Be careful where you position your laptop or desktop. Also beware of Watchers recording things to blackmail you. They have full access to your device screens, files, camera and microphone live streams. You don't even know who they are.
That's the most true and the most real outlook of digital security today.
To be watched and listened to by unknown amount of people remotely is a definite character of today's digital security. You can think "Oh, I should be lucky. My devices are a few out of ten billions of devices out there. Maybe nobody will watch me. Maybe there are more interesting people out there to watch." You are wrong. These watchers browse through random people -- looking for stuff they want to grab, things they can easily take, skills and work they can learn or copy, events they can use to blackmail, people they can murder for fun, etc.
There are many Watchers (hundreds of thousands from the Entertainment Sector) and some of them worse than others, and plenty of murderers. Therefore, you should not underestimate the importance of securing your digital accounts with hardware-backed only solutions, such as Yubikeys for instance.
They can watch you live remotely via streaming your entire device screen(s) but with hardware-back keys they cannot hijack your accounts as easily. At least that's something you could do to protect your already completely naked self.
